Love is in the air! Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard star Preston Mitchum just announced that the’s engaged! He popped the question to his partner of three years, Donald Cooley, and it all went down during a vacation in Europe. Romantic, right?
Like a true reality star, Preston shared the news via a People exclusive. He hired a camera crew. It was a whole production, but it was all worth it. He said yes!
Preston’s getting hitched
Here’s how the proposal went down. The two lovebirds were in Madrid enjoying a 10-course. Meanwhile, the photographers sat in the restaurant, pretending to be diners.
The Summer House MV star popped the question when the dessert came, and the photographers were right there to capture the moment. You have to give Preston kudos for the level of detail. Anybody thinking about popping the question to their partner should take notes from Preston.
Although Preston and Donald had been talking about marriage, Donald didn’t know the proposal was coming during the European getaway. They knew they didn’t want their engagement to correspond with anything “stereotypical” like birthdays or holidays, so this vacation felt like the right moment. Preston said his now-fiancé seemed “genuinely shocked,” which made the whole thing “even better.”
Preston’s camera crew got a nice closeup shot of the ring. It’s encrusted with black diamonds, and it’s seriously stunning. Preston explained how it was the perfect fit for his man. He also noted that he has some ideas picked out for himself, just in case Donald decides to return the favor.
“I loved the cut and color of the ring,” Preston shared. “Black is classic and black diamonds made it even better. And Black men deserve that too!”
Looking ahead to the wedding, Preston said they would be open to letting the Bravo cameras capture the special moment. A Black gay wedding would be a network first, however, Preston warned that their guest list would be “thick.” That should be okay because we know they have the budget. Make it happen, Bravo!
