Is it love or cardiac arrest? On their new collaborative single, “Lose My Breath,” Stray Kids and Charlie Puth detail a list of concerning symptoms: “I lose my breath when you’re walkin’ in, ’cause when our eyes lock, it’s like my heart stops.” Other maladies include dropping knees and a feeling of shock.

Fortuitously for Puth and K-pop octet, the song’s poppy beat and uplifting melody keep reviving them, and, in the video, Stray Kids even pull off some impressive dance moves on a floor covered in about four inches of water. “Right now, I feel like dying and I’m lying on the tilings when you walk in the room,” raps the Kids’ Hyunjin at one point, and yet even he soldiers forward through the rain thanks to the revivifying power of the music, which was written by 3racha (the Kids’ Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han) and Puth.

In a 24-minute accompanying video (about 10 times the duration of “Lose My Breath” itself), the Kids describe how they met Puth at a song camp. They all admired Puth and even considered him a genius, so they saw the opportunity for collaboration as especially special. They also discuss the challenges of dancing in so much water.

In January, the Kids detailed a busy 2024, in which they’d release two albums, play pop-up shows, and embark on a world tour. Earlier this month, Stray Kids made the Gold House A100 list, which recognized them for being among the “100 Asian Pacific leaders who have most significantly impacted American culture and society in the last year.”
