Steve Buscemi was the victim of a random, unprovoked attack while walking in Manhattan last week.
The New York Post reports that Buscemi was strolling through the neighborhood of Kips Bay around noon local time on Wednesday, May 8th, when he was struck by an unknown individual. The 66-year-old actor suffered swelling to his face and left eye and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” the actor’s publicist told the New York Post in a statement. “He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of New York.”
Buscemi’s attacker remains at large. He is described by police as a bearded man wearing a baseball cap, a blue t-shirt and black sweatpants.
Buscemi is next set to appear in season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday.
