Ashlyn Harris and Sophia Bush are stepping out to celebrate women in sports!

The retired pro soccer player, 38, and the One Tree Hill alum, 41, attended a special event at Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence on Wednesday which included 150 of the most influential women in an array of sports fields, in collaboration with Billie Jean King’s Women’s Sports Foundation.

At the event, Ashlyn and Bush had the opportunity to pose for a selfie with the vice president — which Ashlyn proudly posted on her Instagram Story.

From King to retired WNBA player Lisa Leslie to ‘round-the-world sailing sensation Cole Brauer, Number One Observatory Circle (also known as the Naval Observatory) was packed with female players, owners, commissioners and presidents.

During the ceremony, the vice president offered her own pep talk to the crowd.

“The work you do every day benefits people regardless of their gender,” Kamala said. “My mother would always say, ‘You may be the first, but make sure you are not the last.’ Never let anyone tell you who you are. You tell them who you are. That’s the spirit behind this work.”

The event capped a busy month for Bush and Ashlyn, who made their red carpet debut on March 10, five months after PEOPLE first confirmed that the pair's friendship had evolved into something more.

The duo attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation's annual Oscars viewing party, and were snapped together with actor Eric McCormack inside the event.

The actress wore a strapless wine-colored Marmar Halim gown with a high slit, matching heels and a sparkling choker, while the two-time World Cup winner wore a suit over a sheer ivory shirt and tons of sparkling jewels.

The news of a romance between the two came after Bush and husband Grant Hughes separated after 13 months of marriage in August. Ashlyn filed for divorce from wife and fellow soccer pro, Ali Krieger, in September 2023.

In early January, Bush reflected on her year that “changed everything" in a lengthy Instagram post.

“No more playing small. No more turning my back on myself. No more settling for what falls short because ‘who am I to ask for more?’ This year put me back in my body. I left it a long time ago, in such a way that I forgot what it felt like to inhabit my own skin. I feel my whole self from the tops of my ears to the tips of my toes now. It’s breathtaking. Life giving. Affirming," said Bush.
