Sinéad O'Dwyer, Ancuta Sarca and More Return for BFC's 2023 NEWGEN Scheme

The British Fashion Council just announced the 2023/2024 cohort of its BFC NEWGEN scheme, providing grants, showcasing opportunities and mentorship for emerging brands and designers.

For its latest iteration, famed designers like Sinéad O'Dwyer, Ancuta Sarca, HARRI, Chet Lo, Masha Popova, and Di Petsa make a return -- while names like Tolu Coker (whom Hypebae named one to watch last season) join the list for the first time.

Speaking about the initiative, Caroline Rush CBE, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council said, "A huge congratulations to the 23/24 recipients. BFC NEWGEN is unique and a true recognition of the UK as a launchpad for creative talent who go on to lead the industry globally. Celebrating this year's recipients is all the more exciting in light of the 30th anniversary of the initiative. We are focused on creating an environment for creative and innovative businesses to succeed, and continue to nurture socially responsive and dynamic designers at the zeitgeist of British culture."

"NEWGEN is a foundation of London's reputation for continually producing and uplifting young talent of all kinds, from everywhere," adds Sarah Mower MBE, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent. "What is extremely moving and impressive about this generation is that they are activists; they are committed to sustainability, equality, and equal opportunity and that's something we’re really proud of."

To celebrate this season's cohort, BFC worked with renowned photographer Rankin to capture portraits of each designer. Take a look at the portraits above, and head to BFC's website for more information.
