Simone Biles “Broke Down” After Husband Jonathan Owen’s Viral Interview

Simone Biles says she “broke down” after her husband Jonathan Owens’ viral interview. On a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy Podcast, the Olympic champion opened up about Owen’s comments on the Pivot Podcast in 2023.
Jonathan implied that he was “the catch” in their relationship. He then took it a step further and expressed that he didn’t know who Biles was before they got married, which sent social media into a tailspin.
Biles was ultimately hit with the backlash, which she said “really hurt.” She insisted that she wanted Owens to have his moment and didn’t want to say anything to take away from his feelings in that moment. The acclaimed athlete also explained that she was in the room when the interview happened.
“I was in the room. I was sitting on the chair. You just couldn’t see me on the videos I was there for the whole entire video,” Biles said before joking. “I was like, ‘My man just killed that.’ So, whenever he did that interview, I thought everything was OK. And then I go on Twitter, and everybody’s like, divorce this man, he’s mean. I’m like, he’s the sweetest. He praises the ground that I walk on. Truly, I’ve never met a man like him.”
“It was all for him. So I think they were mad that he didn’t include me in the interview, but he has to have his moments, too, and I let him have it,” she said. “He never said I wasn’t a catch. He said he was a catch because he is. I’ve never met a man like him. A lot of people that meet him are like, oh my gosh. I want a man like that, like Jonathan.”
She admitted that social media’s cries to divorce him left her hurt. The world-class athlete stated that spectators don’t understand how sweet he is to her in real life.
“That really hurt that they were talking about my husband like that. Because for me, it’s like talk about me all you want, but don’t come for my family,” she added.

Pivot host Ryan Clark corroborated Biles’ recollection of the events in December 2023. Clark accused the internet of honing in the assumed negative portion of the interview and didn’t watch the content in context. He insisted that the love they share was evident on set that day.
“Every time they looked at one another, you can tell how beautiful [their meet] was to them,” the former NFL star recalled. “But everyone has now twisted that and taken that and made it something negative. But what people haven’t done is watch the entire show.”
