"Shower Makeup" Is TikTok’s Ultra Glam Trend Bound To Bring Your 'Sexy Back'

The beauty side of TikTok is taking the idea of wet-looking skin to the next level with the hype behind "Shower makeup," which deserves all the virality behind it.

With over 4.4 million views on the trend vending machine app, #showermakeup isn't some greasy mess of foundation, concealer and mascara running down your face in your daily shower. The look makes one appear as though they're in a hot shower — not to be confused with getting fresh out of the shower. Think Beyoncé in the "Crazy In Love" video during the fire hydrant scene (but less wet.) There are no traces of matte complexions, but rather the girls are getting glossed up all over from skin, lids, lips and hair. Created by Huda Beauty's Founder, Huda Kattan, she exclaims that the showering process starting from the lighting, temperature and so forth, is what makes up the look hype.

For those with a peaked interest in trying #showermakeup, you want to start with a good foundation. Mix a liquid pearlescent, luminous finish foundation with a day cream. Once the base is set, apply concealer under the eyes, chin and between the eyebrows. Follow the concealing step with a cream bronzer stick, but don't apply it to the middle of the forehead. Kattan says to imitate the light of your bathroom, resulting in a snazzy contouring trick that illuminates the face.

Next, blush will be your bestie — add a bit of red or pink blush to the cheeks and lips. The next step is centered around acing the trend: highlighter. The more highlighter the better the shower look will turn out. Apply a generous amount to the cheek and stretch through to the bridge of the nose and your cupid's bow. Lastly, to accentuate the "wet" effect, apply your fave lip gloss to your lips and lids. And for a bonus point, add your preferred hair gloss to your hair or styling serum for a glossy, "wet texture" to enhance your finish.
