Sharon Osbourne Reveals Why Ozzy Walked Off Their No Holds Barred Podcast (Exclusive)

"If we see him putting his shoes on, we better change the subject real quick because he's going to get up and leave," adds Kelly Osbourne about her family's show

The Osbournes are opening up about their family dynamic while working on a podcast together.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, they opened up about what it's like to share their lives with fans through Osbourne Media House. Kelly, 39, says it feels freeing to connect with their audience in their own way.

“I think it's been really amazing because I forget that people actually give a s--- about anything that we say,” she admits. “And when we are together, we are just trying to be ourselves and family and let people in on our unique little world.”

She continues: “I think that it's amazing to have a platform where it's like we can't get in trouble, it's just us being ourselves. And if you don't like us, then you don't have to listen.”

She also says the podcast is a good way to understand the family’s fanbase more deeply. Jack, 38, confesses that he enjoys watching the interactions between fans in the comments, adding that “it’s usually really positive and nice.”

“We've all been working in media for so long, it's very rare that we've had complete autonomy doing it,” he says. “And so having that now and having a platform and really engaging with our individual and collective fan base has been something, I mean, I realize we should have done years ago.”

Kelly says that the family’s goal is to create content their audience wants to hear. She says it feels like they “get to give back” to their fans who gave them the platform they have today.

“It has really changed our decision-making process and how we've decided to change different aspects of the show and bring other things in,” Kelly explains. “Originally we were going to have guests on the podcast, and we realized that that's not what people wanted and just kept it just with the family.”

She adds: “It's so much fun to do and we can be really pissed off with each other the day of taping, but as soon as we all sit down, it's like we all come together and we have the best time.”

Mom Sharon, 71, says while that is usually the case, sometimes the family isn’t having the best time, and the audience gets to see that too. Recently, she says Ozzy, 75, walked out in the middle of recording.

“The other day we were doing a show and Ozzy didn't like the subject, so he put his shoes on and said, ‘I'm going, I don't like this,’” she recalls.

Kelly jokingly adds that the sign that her dad isn’t happy with the topic is when he starts to put his shoes on.

“If we see him putting his shoes on, we better change the subject real quick because he's going to get up and leave,” she says.

At the same time, Kelly says her family’s openness and ability to be unfiltered is part of the appeal of their podcast.

“We can talk about absolutely anything and ask the questions that people want to know the answers to and do it in a way where you can push boundaries without insulting people,” she says. “And if we do insult people on the way, sorry.”
