PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (ABC4) — Get ready to “Shake it Off” with this Taylor Swift laser show at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center.

The Space Center said that due to how popular the Laser Swift show has been, they’re adding more show times.

“We’ve seen birthday parties where they’ve brought all the kids together and they’re in a line having this common shared experience. It’s something that’s meaningful for them and impactful,” said James Porter, the director of the Space Center. “We’re looking at that saying, ‘hey, we want more to be able to experience it and have a good, positive, family-friendly opportunity.’ That’s what we want to do, is expand it and give more people that chance.”

Porter said a year ago, the planetarium received a donation that allowed them to start laser shows. Since then, they’ve put on presentations set to various music, including 80s rock, Daft Punk, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and now Taylor Swift, who was highly requested.

“We got some really talented people together that learned how to develop the software. That’s one of the big things that we do, is we’re making sure that we have students and other individuals being able to learn how to create this content, how to do graphic arts, how to do music synchronization,” he said.

Porter added that it’s been exciting to see how much the audience enjoys the Taylor Swift show, many times attendees dressing up for the occasion and wearing glitter on their faces.

The Space Center started with its first starship simulator in 1990 and has remained dedicated to immersive education experiences. This summer, they’re also planning to hold Space Camps, where children from the ages of 10-14 can experience an imagination-filled adventure acting as a crew exploring space. Camps range from $65 – $85. More information can be found online.
