The model researched the topic for her 'Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise' costar's BDSM-themed bachelorette party

Selita Ebanks is getting a crash course on BDSM.

The model stars on the Freeform reality series Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, and in a funny clip from the upcoming April 30 episode, she does some research for costar Victoria Coleman's BDSM-themed bachelorette party.

Reading aloud an online description from her phone during a confessional, Ebanks, 41, finds out that it is "a variety of often erotic practices or role-playing involving bondage, discipline, dominance and sado masochistic...."

However, that last word throws her for a loop. "What the f--- is that?" she asks, as a producer off-camera explains that it means "I get pleasure from your pain."

She jokes with a laugh, "I don't know nothing about this. I'm going to church. Y'all need Jesus."

Ebanks recently told PEOPLE that partying with her Grand Cayman friends came with a learning curve. She joked that she "wasn't prepared for the tequila intake" filming with them.

"I tried really hard not to be Mama Selita," she said, "because I didn't want to be Debbie Downer. I wanted everybody to have a good time — just responsibly."

The star, who made the leap to modeling at 17, was born in New York but raised partly in the Cayman Islands, where her mother is from.

She said the "diverse" and "beautiful" island makes for a unique reality show location, and it came with some "pressure" to get it right on screen.

"As locals, we want to represent our island in the best way possible," Ebanks said. "But, we are still human and we're just like anyone anywhere else. Life be life-ing! We just gotta navigate it like anyone else."
