Selena Gomez is 'fine' following news of Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's engagement

Calm down, everyone: Selena Gomez is going to be all right now that Justin Bieber is engaged. In fact, Jelena-shippers are having a harder time accepting the news than the singer.

“She’s fine,” a source close to the star tells Yahoo Entertainment. “She’s in a great place right now and has a lot of exciting things coming up.”

A second insider echoes similar sentiments: “I mean, everyone thinks it’s quick, but she’s fine. They haven’t spoken in a long time and it’s all good.”

The 13 Reasons Why producer looks good too. She spent Sunday basking in the sun with friends on a boat in New York City, looking carefree, after the engagement news broke.

Bieber, 24, popped the question to Hailey Baldwin over the weekend in the Bahamas after a short period of dating. It still was a surprise to many of the couple’s friends — after all, the “Sorry” singer and model have been dating again for less than two months. Bieber and Gomez have only been broken up for four months.

Gomez, 25, got back together with her ex-boyfriend last year after her split from the Weeknd. Things were going great for the rekindled duo, who have dated on and off since 2010, until they abruptly ended things after Bieber’s birthday in March. Insiders at the time didn’t even call it a breakup, but more of a break.

But the young couple had their fair share of obstacles, which should have been a sign a reunion was unlikely. There was the fact that Gomez’s family didn’t approve of the pair’s reunion. Then Bieber quickly moved on, flaunting a new romance with model Baskin Champion. Jelena also has a whole lot of complicated history — and that’s often hard to move past. (Remember their public feud on Instagram that culminated in Gomez leaving social media for three months?)

As hard as it is to accept, perhaps Gomez just wasn’t “the one” for Bieber after all. She’s clearly OK with it, so it’s time for everyone else to be too.
