Meghan Markle is famous for making statements with her style, and not just of the fashion variety. The Duchess of Sussex frequently chooses pieces that carry some special significance to her, and it appears that she really went all out in that department today with her jewelry choices for a reception in the Hague before the start of the Invictus Games.

For the occasion, Meghan accented her crisp white pantsuit with a number of baubles which seem to carry special meaning—beginning with a pair of diamond earrings which appear to be the same Cartier Galanterie de Cartier earrings she wore for her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

That's not the only homage to the royal family in her look, though. The Duchess of Sussex also donned a Cartier Tank watch, a favored style that she shares with her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Indeed, it has long been speculated that Meghan may have inherited the very same Tank watch that Diana wore. (Meghan also owns a version of the watch that she purchased for herself to celebrate her pre-royal stint on the show Suits.) Whether or not this is, in fact, Diana's watch has not been confirmed.

Additionally, Meghan also selected a pendant necklace by Sophie Lis with a romantic message. The pendant has a diamond plus sign and a ruby minus; it is inscribed with the French words qu’hier and que demain, which mean "more than yesterday, less than tomorrow." The words are a nod to the poem "The Eternal Song" by Rosemonde Gerard, which reads "For, you see, each day I love you more, today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow."

The Sophie Lis necklace also nods to Meghan's longtime support of animal welfare causes—a portion of the sales from each necklace is donated to Wild at Heart Foundation, a global dog rescue.
