Sean Kingston Joins His Mom In Lock Up For Several Fraud Charges

Kisean Paul Anderson, best known by his stage name Sean Kingston, has been taken into custody hours after his mom was arrested.
The "Beautiful Girls" hitmaker and his mother, Janice Turner, were arrested in different states for fraud and theft charges. The investigation into the duo's alleged crimes is still active and ongoing.
Sean Kingston & His Mother Are Facing Severe Charges
The drama began at the South Florida mansion Kingston was renting, which authorities raided on Thursday before issuing a warrant for his arrest. At the time, the singer was out of the state for a performance in California, but his mother was home.
Turner was arrested at the mansion on her own fraud and theft charges, with the Broward Sheriff's Office confirming that the arrest and search warrants were served at a Southwest Ranches residence following an ongoing investigation.
Following the incident, Kingston reassured fans that all was well on his Instagram Stories, writing: "People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak."
Unfortunately, those words came back to bite Kingston as he was arrested in California. The Broward Sheriff's Office confirmed his capture to PEOPLE in a statement, noting:
"This evening, police in Fort Irwin, Calif., arrested Kisean Anderson, aka Sean Kingston, without incident on a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest warrant for numerous fraud and theft charges. According to investigators, he will be booked into jail in San Bernardino, California."
A Lawsuit Between Kingston & Ver Ver Entertainment Triggered The Raid

The ongoing lawsuit between Kingston and Ver Ver Entertainment sparked the raid on the South Florida mansion. The latter filed the complaint in February, accusing the 34-year-old of failing to pay for items purchased from the company.
Ver Ver Entertainment alleged Kingston presented "numerous false representations" to the company. This included claims that he had a "current and ongoing working relationship" with Pop star Justin Bieber.
The company noted Kingston had promised to produce promotional videos with Bieber for them to reduce his payments and credit toward the price of items he purchased from them. However, they discovered he had "no ongoing working" relationship with the "Baby" singer.
The Company's Attorney Says The Raid Was Highly-anticipated
In their lawsuit, Ver Ver Entertainment accused Kingston of breaching his contract by failing to pay them as agreed after multiple attempts to collect payment in January. They also claimed he had "a long history of engaging in fraudulent conduct."
The company's attorney, Dennis Card, reflected on the journey to Kingston's arrest in a statement, saying:
"I filed a lawsuit against Sean Kingston. A detective in Broward County read my lawsuit and contacted me, and so we went down and gave, with my client, a recorded statement and an affidavit."
As for the raid, Card added that they've been waiting for this moment for "more than two months." However, it remains to be seen if the investigations will end in the company's or Kingston's favor.
Sean Kingston Was Sued For Failed Payments Last Year

As Ver Ver Entertainment noted in their lawsuit, they aren't the first company to sue Kingston for failed payments. Last February, The Blast reported that Dream Watch, a company that distributes high-end watches, sued the 34-year-old for a $912,000 debt.
In the lawsuit, Dream Watch explained Kingston had contacted them via Instagram to purchase two watches. The accessories included a Richard Mille timepiece valued at $534,000 and a Patek Phillippe Calibre valued at $378,000.
Additionally, the company alleged they gave Kingston the VIP treatment by flying out one of their representatives from Malaysia to his California home. They also allowed him to obtain the watches before confirming his payment.
Dream Watch Allegedly Never Received Their Money

In their lawsuit, Dream Watch recalled that Kingston claimed his account was frozen after failing to wire the payment. However, he repeatedly continued to dodge paying over the next three months before he suddenly stopped responding to the company's queries.
The company didn't stop pursuing Kingston for their money, and their unsuccessful attempts eventually led to the lawsuit. Five years before this incident, the 34-year-old's music royalties were in danger over his debts.
In 2018, The Blast reported that Kingston was given a default judgment of $314,138.22 after failing to appear in court over a $44k debt.
Haimov Jewelers attempted to get their money by demanding Sony Music hand over all documents related to the singer's checks and employment.
