Royal Family Debuts Prince Louis’ 6th Birthday Photo Captured by Kate Middleton

The Prince and Princess of Wales debuted their son Prince Louis’ official 6th birthday portrait on Tuesday to commemorate the young royal’s birthday. Prince William and Kate Middleton included a personal message along with the portrait.

In the photo, the 6-year-old smiles brightly at the camera, wearing the button-down Trotters Oliver shirt in camel check. The shirt featured a checkered pattern with lines of light blue and faded mustard yellow running across the fabric. The image was captured outside with Prince Louis laying on a blanket on the grass.

The photo was also captured by Prince Louis’ mother, Kate Middleton, who has taken time away from public duties as she focuses on her health, family and ongoing cancer treatment. “Happy 6th Birthday, Prince Louis! Thank you for all the kind wishes today,” read the Prince and Princess of Wales’ caption to the post. The Instagram post also included a flashing camera emoji, crediting the image to the Princess of Wales.

Prince William and Kate share birthday portraits of their children each year. Last year, the couple released a portrait of Prince Louis, the couple’s youngest child of three, wearing a blue wool Fair Isle sweater from British brand Lallie London’s fall 2021 collection. The photographs, however, were not captured by Kate. Instead, British photographer Millie Pilkington shot the images of Prince Louis and his mother.

Prince Louis is quite the burgeoning star in the British royal family. The young royal has made a few public appearances within the last few years, joining his parents and older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, for various royal occasions.

While attending those royal events, however, Prince Louis has become famous for his facial expressions. While watching the fly-past on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour in June 2023, Louis made several funny, candid faces throughout the event, as seen in the image above.
