'Rock The Dock' concert: Party to open docks at Sen. Thomas Norton City Pier in Fall River

FALL RIVER — Are you ready to rock?

Are you also ready to rock the dock?

The Office of Mayor Paul Coogan and the Fall River Redevelopment Authority have announced the grand opening of new docks at the Senator Thomas Norton City Pier.

On Saturday, June 1, there will be a ribbon cutting, followed by "Rock the Dock: A Grand Opening Concert."

This event will be held at the Senator Thomas Norton City Pier, from noon to 3 p.m.

The rain date is Saturday, June 8.

The docks were funded in part by a grant from the Seaport Economic Council and an earmark facilitated by state Rep. Carole Fiola and the legislative delegation.

Through the boating season, the docks will be open from sunrise to sunset for daytime dockage.

“This is a great day for Fall River!" Gov. Maura Healey stated in a press release from Coogan's office. "The Senator Thomas Norton City Pier is the lynchpin for the city's economy and a social hub for the community — and the opening of these new docks take that to the next level. On behalf of the entire Healey-Driscoll administration, we congratulate Mayor Paul Coogan, the legislative delegation and the entire city on this exciting occasion and wish them the best for the Grand Opening Concert."

This event is free and open to the public.

"Rock The Dock" will feature live entertainment from The Peacheaters: An Allman Brothers Band Experience.

There will also be food trucks, featuring Red's RI, BBQ Y Mas, Blount, Mac N Cheese Please, Dorothy Cox Ice Cream, and Kona Ice.

A beer garden will be provided by Canned Heat and Party with Primo.

Parking will be available in the parking lot on Davol Street, between Hathaway and Taylor Street. There will also be parking available at Battleship Cove and Bicentennial Park.
