GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — Rock the Country kicked off day one at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center with Jason Aldean as the headliner.

Laura Quick, co-founder of Rock the Country, said the two-day music event is more than a music festival, but a way to bring positive economic impact to cities like Gonzales.

“Well, we started a festival called Rock the South in our hometown in Coleman, Alabama, in 2011, just after the tornadoes there. And what we saw were people coming together, helping each other. And since then, we see $20 million in economic impact in just our small town of only 15,000 people. And so, we believe that starting a tour like this, Rock the Country would impact small towns like Gonzalez the same way that it’s impacted ours,” said Quick.

According to festival coordinators, the event is one of the largest events in the region for decades. The event expects 50,000 people throughout the weekend.

On Saturday, April 6, the headliner will be Kid Rock. VIP and general admission tickets are still for sale. For more information on the country music festival, go here.
