'Riverdale' Star Lili Reinhart on What The CW Actors Are Not Allowed to Do During Kissing Scenes

The actress claimed she will be playing "more adult roles" in the future.

Lili Reinhart is opening up about the rules she and her Riverdale cast mates have to follow while filming kissing scenes on The CW series. 

The 25-year-old actress—who plays Betty Cooper on the mystery drama series—sat down for an interview on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, where she revealed that the actors at the network "aren't even really allowed to kiss with tongue." 

"You can only be so much of an adult on a CW show," she told podcast host Josh Horowitz in the interview, which aired on Wednesday. 

As a result, Reinhart said she is "excited" to play "more diverse and complicated, messier characters," once she wraps The CW series following the show's seventh and final season. 

"I have a lot of sort of dramatic, deep roles in my future after Riverdale," she said, adding, "Definitely roles that you have not seen me in—I'm an adult! I'm an adult woman and I'm going to start playing those more adult roles." 

The Hustlers actress has starred on The CW show since its premiere in 2017, alongside a list of cast mates who have also risen to fame in recent years, including KJ Apa, Madelaine Petsch, Camila Mendes and many more. 

Reinhart claimed that being on The CW for so long can be "hard to break out of" or make it difficult or be "taken as seriously" as other actors, which is why she is seeking roles that differ from her Riverdale persona to avoid being "pigeonholed" in her career.

"I've played the same role as Betty for what will be seven seasons and it's very important to be strategic," she stated. "I don't want to be a Scream Queen, I don't want to be the queen of rom-coms or anything like that. It's why I want to put my hand in all the baskets and try everything." 

In her latest role, Reinhart stars in the romantic comedy drama film Look Both Ways, which just dropped on Netflix earlier this week.
