Rita's free water ice day is back. Here's when and where to get it in Bucks County

The long-honored and tasty spring tradition will continue as Rita's Italian Ice & Custard will give out free cups of its famous water ice to commemorate the first day of spring.

The first day of spring is Tuesday, March 19.

"Every year we celebrate the first day of spring by giving away free Italian Ice. That’s right, for over 25 years we’ve treated each and every Guest to a free Italian Ice," read a portion of Rita's website promotion. "It’s a Rita’s Tradition. Just our way of kicking off the season—and spreading a little happiness."

Customers only need to simply request the free water ice — and probably spend some time in line during peak hours — at any Rita's location on the first day of spring, and they will receive a free cup.

Rita's headquarters based in Bucks County

Rita's was born in Philadelphia and since moved its headquarters to Bucks County, according to Rita's website.

"Bob Tumolo, a former Philadelphia firefighter, opened a small Italian Ice business on his front porch in a suburb of Philly," read Rita's website. "That first shop, named after his wife, Rita, was created to offer the best-tasting, highest-quality Italian Ice.

"Today, Rita’s is in over 30 states, serving up Ice, Custard, and Happiness to millions of loyal fans."

Rita's coporate headquaters, or "Cool Support Center," is located in Trevose, where it employs roughly 90 workers.
