TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Multi-platinum rock band Rise Against will be bringing their fall tour to the Tampa Bay area.

The Chicago band will play Nov. 2 at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg.

“Since we’ll be playing some venues we haven’t played in a while, we thought we’d dust off some songs we haven’t played in some time,” the band said.

Their ninth studio album, Nowhere Generation, was released in 2021. The lead single — and title track — hit number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Vocalist Tim McIlrath, in an interview with Grammy.com, said the song stems from talking to younger fans who feel the American Dream is deteriorating.

“What they’ve communicated to me is that they feel like they are being asked to run this race while the finish line just keeps moving on them,” he said. “I wanted to give that perspective a platform and a voice and create a song that was speaking to that sentiment.”

“The more I examined that, the more I realized that there’s a lot of evidence and a lot of good reasons to feel that weight,” he continued. “Whether it’s living in a time that has normalized the idea that one can work full-time and still live below the poverty level or living in a time where we’re expected to accept the idea of concentrated wealth and the rise of the one percent.”

The band didn’t announce any opening acts, but teased that it would be “some old friends and new friends.”

The band will also make a stop in Orlando on Nov. 1. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday.
