What is 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' about?

Set thousands of years before the events of "The Hobbit" and the original "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "The Rings of Power" sends viewers into the Second Age of Middle-earth. If you missed Reviewed's thoughts on the first season, the show followed a variety of characters trying to maintain peace among the elves, the dwarves, the hobbits and the forces of man as a mysterious evil force starts to rise. There's fierce elven warrior Galadriel (Moryfdd Clark) trying to hunt down the evil in her land, dwarf prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur) ready to ascend to greatness in Middle-earth, and many others.

While the season two trailer is vague with specifics, it does reveal one major player: Sauron. Played by Charlie Vickers (who played Halbrand in season one), the mysterious figure appears to disguise himself as an elf while the titular rings of power start to come into focus. Meanwhile, Galadriel and co. continue to fight off more creatures and forces as conflicts in Middle-earth worsen. The opening shot of the trailer appears to be the infamous Mount Doom, while the final shot seems to show the creation of Barad-dûr, which would become Sauron's fortress and the home of the ominous eye watching over Mordor years later.
