“RHOBH”'s Annemarie Wiley Says She's in a 'Great Space' After Firing: 'I Feel Amazing Now' (Exclusive)

Wiley was fired from the reality series in March after just one season

One month after being fired from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, series alum Annemarie Wiley is feeling great.

On Saturday, April 27, the 41-year-old nurse anesthesiologist spoke with PEOPLE at the Homeboy Industries' Lo Maximo 2024 Awards Dinner about her exit from the reality series — and revealed what's ahead for her.

"I feel amazing now," Annemarie says of how's she doing one month after revealing she was fired from RHOBH. "I feel so good. I'm in a great space."

She continues, "I have so many super exciting things coming up that really align with who I am, like really positive, inspirational and motivational things ... people are going to get to see who I am, and I'm really excited for that."

Ultimately, the mom of four feels she wasn't given a chance to show fans her life.

"That was a very interesting year of my life," she tells PEOPLE. "There were a lot of really personal things that happened to me while we were filming that the viewers, unfortunately, didn't get to see, like my mom being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and me battling my adoption trauma."

Annemarie adds that she "wanted to be somebody that was really relatable to people" but in the end, she feels "people didn't get to see me."

"They didn't get a sense of who I was at all," she adds. "I didn't have a personal story that was shown, so that was really unfortunate."

Annemarie, who is married to former NFL player Marcellus Wiley, revealed on Instagram in March that she was not asked back for season 14 of RHOBH. Her exit came after just one season on the Bravo show.

"What I am is a woman — a proud Black woman — who is truly blessed with a wonderful strong Black man as my husband, who lifts me and our four wonderful children up with so much love and positivity on the daily," she wrote at the time. "It was an important mission of mine for the next season to show a solid Black family unit and that ‘true Black love’ exists, even in Beverly Hills."

The reality star went on to add that she was hopeful that a second season would allow her to explore "my struggle with losing my mother to lung cancer within weeks of taping, and my struggle with adoption trauma and what was going to be, and still will be, a new life journey for me to find my biological parents."

Annemarie's husband Marcellus is currently facing his own controversy. In November 2023, a woman filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court claiming that Marcellus, 49, sexually assaulted and raped her in the fall of 1994 while they were attending Columbia University. Marcellus has denied the allegations.

When asked if she thought the accusations against her husband played a role in Bravo's decision to not ask her back, Annemarie said she thinks the show simply crafted a "one-dimensional" persona they wanted her to fit into.

"I don't think so. I think they just, for whatever reason, wanted to just make it a one-dimensional storyline and didn't want to show me," she says. "I can't answer why they didn't want to show my life, but you live and learn and you take everything and you turn it into a positive, and you do better with your next opportunity."

As for what's to come, the former RHOBH star says her next act will be focused on showing the world how multifaceted she is. "I'm a mom of four. I'm a professional. I'm a CRNA. I'm a former athlete. I am super into health and fitness," she says. "I have a non-profit foundation with my husband called Project Transition, where we work with youth in underserved communities. So there are a lot of things that I do in my life."

The CRNA isn't the only cast member who won't be returning for RHOBH Season 14. Earlier this month, Crystal Kung Minkoff revealed she was also not asked to return.

"I just wanted to share the news that I will not be coming back to film season 14 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It's very bittersweet," Kung Minkoff, 41, said in an Instagram video post. "Never did I think I would have been asked to do the show in a million years, let alone film it for three seasons."

Season 13 also starred Kyle Richards, Erika Girardi, Dorit Kemsley and Garcelle Beauvais. Filming for RHOBH Season 14 has not yet begun.
