Going through the process of picking out a baby name can be downright brutal. And it can cause a lot of drama. Unfortunately for Kate Middleton and Prince William, they were under even more scrutiny when picking out the names of their children. The world would be watching (per usual) and the peanut gallery would have thoughts (as they always do).

And though the Princess of Wales has no doubt come to love the names of her kids — Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 — resurfaced reports via Good To Know show she had another moniker in mind.

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl reported for Vanity Fair that Middleton actually had “set her heart” on the name Alexander if they had a baby boy. Of course, the third in line to the throne was not given the first name Alexander, but it is his middle name. While “George” is in honor of the young prince’s late great-great-grandfather King George VI, “Alexander” is reportedly in honor of his late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, whose middle name was Alexandra.

When pregnant, Middleton reportedly referred to George as “our little grape” while she and her husband tried to land on a name. And, honestly, I hope she still calls him that. George the Little Grape! Sounds like an adorable children’s book.

Per The Mirror, Middleton was also fond of the name “Alexandra” for a girl, but her daughter was given the name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana instead, honoring her grandfather, her late great-grandmother, and her late grandma respectively.

And then there’s Middleton’s youngest — Prince Louis Arthur Charles. So Middleton’s alleged first choice never made it as a first name, but who knows? Maybe she’ll be lucky enough to have a grandchild named Alexander or Alexandra one day.
