A new report shines some light on Tanga Loa’s appearance at WWE Backlash.

At WWE Backlash, Tanga Loa made his surprise arrival by helping Tama Tonga and Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline beat Randy Orton and Kevin Owens. His appearance surprised many fans, as his NJPW departure had not been known.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed the situation. He states that Tama Tonga and Tanga Longa got a deal together. However, Loa’s NJPW departure did not get out, as the company did not give him a clear farewell, as it had with others. Meltzer also stated that the deal was not something reached in the last two weeks; instead, it had been decided on months ago. (H/t Sanchez Taylor of WrestleTalk)

Tanga Loa last wrestled at NJPW Road to Sakura Genesis on March 31. There, he lost to Great-O-Khan in a Rural Revitalization In Hamamatsu. He had been with NJPW since 2016. During his run with the company, he held the IWGP Tag Team Championship seven times with Tama Tonga. He also won the NEVER Openweight Six0Man Tag Team Championship three times.

Tanga Loa previously worked for WWE from 2009 to 2014; he had a run as Camacho. He has also wrestled for TNA and CMLL.
