Reese Witherspoon Is Working on 'Legally Blonde 3'

From Cosmopolitan

Per Deadline, Reese Witherspoon is close to a deal to reprise her role as the greatest sorority-sister-turn-lawyer of all time, Elle Woods, in a third Legally Blonde movie. It's been 17 years since the first movie hit theaters and Elle gave the world the most epic, yet simple, comeback of all time.

MGM, the studio behind the other two movies, is bringing back most of the creative team from the first film, including the two original screenwriters, Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, and the original producer, Marc Platt.

Although there's not much to know about the plot yet, it's supposed to be very much in the spirit of the first film, but with an even bigger female empowerment theme. Reese may have unintentionally given a hint at the potential plot in an interview with James Corden last March.

"I think it would be kind of cool to see her, 15 years later," Reese said. "Like, what's she doing now? ... But I need a good idea."

Corden suggested she could be the POTUS, considering she already worked in a congresswoman's office. "She could," Witherspoon said. "She could be a Supreme Court justice or she could be like a really great, powerful attorney or she could be in prison. She could be anything!"

Seriously, with this kind of attitude, Elle Woods could run the world.
