If you thought the first Rebel Moon was bad, its sequel is apparently even worse.

Rebel Moon- Part 2: The Scargiver premiered on Netflix April 19, 2024, and it’s left both reviewers and audiences underwhelmed.

Currently, it’s sitting at a woeful 18% critic score, and a 53% audience score. That’s even worse than Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire, which managed just 21% with critics, and 58% with audiences.

The poor scores make sense, though. Director Zack Synder filmed his movies back to back, so it’s not like he could alter course in response to the initial critical drubbing. The awful reaction does, however, suggest there won’t be a Rebel Moon 3 on the cards - which, from the looks of things, many people will be very thankful for.

Rebel Moon- Part 2: The Scargiver reviews

The Guardian: “The concluding chapter of Zack Snyder’s cacophonous sci-fi spectacular offers more of the same overbearing, underwhelming formula.”

Digital Spy: “There's no denying Snyder has created an interesting world – he just forgot to tell an interesting story within it.”

The Verge: “Netflix’s Rebel Moon films both feel like Zack Snyder trying to celebrate sci-fi classics by gently riffing on them in some of the least inspired ways possible.”

Polygon: “ Ultimately, if Rebel Moon ends with The Scargiver, it means the best Rebel Moon story has yet to come: the one Snyder will tell about “what was supposed to happen in Rebel Moon Part Three,” parceled out over his next decade of interviews.”

IGN: “This finale is the cinematic equivalent of finishing a second-hand jigsaw puzzle only to find several pieces missing.”

Engadget: “Rebel Moon: Part 2 - The Scargiver is an empty feast. It's a relentless onslaught of explosions, sci-fi tropes and meaningless exposition that amounts to nothing.”
