Racine's WRJN-AM/FM switch back to oldies music after a year of progressive talk

Racine radio stations WRJN-AM (1400) and FM (99.9/98.1) have gone back to oldies music, after carrying a progressive-talk format for less than a year.

Civic Media, the Wisconsin news/progressive-talk radio network that acquired the Racine stations in 2023, said Tuesday that it was dropping the network's talk format for WRJN in favor of "Local News and Timeless Hits," a music format featuring artists including the Beatles, Elvis Presley and the Supremes.

WRJN, which dates back to 1926, carried a similar oldies format from 2015 until 2023, when it was owned by Magnum Communications. The Racine stations flipped to progressive talk in June of last year.

WRJN said it will continue to air "The Don Rosen Show," a local morning show from 6 to 8 a.m. weekdays, as well as the long-running Sunday morning show "Lou Rugani's Music of the Stars." As of January, the latter also has been carried on the rest of Civic Media's statewide network of stations, including WAUK-AM (540) in Waukesha.

WRJN also carries game broadcasts of Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and other sports.
