Queen Elizabeth just followed in Prince Charles’s footsteps by sharing a rare personal message on Instagram.

Yesterday, the 95-year-old monarch took a break from her normal social media programming to give a special shoutout to her great-grandson, Prince George, who turned 8 years old on July 22. (Eight?! Just let that sink in.)

Similar to Prince Charles, the queen reposted the young royal’s new portrait on her official Instagram Story (@TheRoyalFamily) and wrote a heartfelt note in which she wished him a happy birthday.

The caption read, “Wishing Prince George a very happy 8th birthday today!”

The post comes just a few hours after Prince Charles re-shared the same post on the Instagram page he shares with his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles. The Prince of Wales wrote, “A very happy birthday to Prince George! [balloon emoji].”

The photo shows Prince George wearing a striped polo shirt by John Lewis and navy-blue shorts by Boden. The pic is a subtle nod to his late great-grandpa, Prince Philip, who frequently drove Land Rovers like the one George is sitting on. (He even custom designed his very own Defender, which held a special role at his funeral.)

Prince George’s portrait was taken by his mom, Kate Middleton, at the Cambridge family’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, right before his eighth birthday. The caption read, “Turning eight (!) tomorrow,” along with a few emojis.

Leave it to Queen Elizabeth to go above and beyond to make everyone—including her great-grandchildren—feel special on their birthday.
