Prince William Reacts to 'Kind' Gesture During First Royal Engagement Since Kate Middleton’s Cancer News

Prince William is sharing his gratitude for fans supporting him and his wife Kate Middleton.

On Thursday, April 18, the Prince of Wales attended a royal engagement out in public for the first time since his wife shared her cancer diagnosis with the world, and he was humbled by a sweet gesture from a supporter during the outing.

While visiting Surplus to Supper, a food distribution charity in Sunbury-on-Thames on Thursday, William was presented with a gift from one of the volunteers, who handed him some get-well-soon cards for the princess and William's father, King Charles III, both of whom are currently battling their respective cancer diagnoses.

The woman, identified as Rachel Candappa, was captured in video footage of the event on Thursday, as she pulled out two envelopes to give to the future king.

"Oh, some cards, you're very kind. Thank you very much," he told Candappa, who also told the royal to look after Kate, 42.

"I will," William, 41, promised, according to The Telegraph.

After undergoing abdominal surgery in January, Kate announced last month that she had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer. Since then, she and William have been staying out of the public eye while the princess undergoes "preventative" chemotherapy treatment.

Kate's shocking cancer news came on the heels of another health scare in the royal family, after Charles revealed his own cancer diagnosis in February.

The monarch, who was hospitalized in January for a medical procedure on his prostate, did not disclose the exact type of cancer he was diagnosed with, and Buckingham Palace has remained tight-lipped regarding the king's official prognosis.
