A little over a year ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a bombshell interview about their decision to step back from their senior roles within the royal family. Now, Prince Harry is opening up once again—this time to Hoda Kotb of the Today show—about the Invictus Games, his life in California with Meghan and their two children, and his recent visit with Queen Elizabeth.

Kotb has been in the Hague for the Games this week, and taped the interview Thursday, April 19. It is set to air in full Wednesday, April 20.

But before the exclusive airs, NBC released a clip of their conversation. In it, Harry reveals that spending time with the Queen last week was “great. ”

“Being with her, it was great,” he said. “It was just so nice to see her … She’s on great form.”

Harry and Meghan stopped by Windsor Castle this week on their way to the Invictus Games to visit Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed to Town & Country. According to the Sun, visitors to Windsor who were in town for the Maundy Thursday service spotted the royal couple.

Harry also told Kotb that he made the Queen laugh during their time together. “She’s always got a great sense of humor with me,” he said, sharing that Meghan also joined them for tea.

Harry and Meghan had not returned together to the UK since moving to California in March 2020, and Harry had only returned two other times on his own: for Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021 and to unveil a statue in memory of Princess Diana in July 2021.

“You know, home—home for me, now, is, you know, for the time being, in the states.” Harry told Kotb. “We’ve been welcomed with open arms,” he continued sharing that his family has “such a great community up in Santa Barbara.”
