When his father King Charles is crowned at Westminster Abbey, Prince Harry will be one of the 2,000 or so people in the congregation. Unlike his brother Prince William, though, Harry will not have a specific role to play in the service.

At Queen Elizabeth's coronation, the three royal dukes—her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh; her uncle, Prince Henry, the Duke of Gloucester; and her cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent—paid homage at her throne.

At King Charles's coronation, only Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will pay homage. The other royal dukes—Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex included—will not, and therefore will have no role in the ceremony. (Here's a guide to everyone who has roles in the coronation.)

There was much speculation surrounding Prince Harry's attendance at the coronation. In April, both Buckingham Palace and a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed to Town & Country that Harry will attend sans Meghan Markle, saying "the Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."

In fact, on the day of the coronation, Prince Harry will make a swift exit from the UK, in order to make it back to Montecito for the end of his son Prince Archie's fourth birthday. Last year, Harry and Meghan celebrated their daughter Princess Lilibet's first birthday at Frogmore Cottage during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee weekend.

A source told People Meghan is planning a "low-key party at home" for Archie's birthday, with guests likely to include Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland.
