Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are sharing their support for Kate Middleton after the Duchess of Cambridge revealed her cancer diagnosis in a video statement on March 22.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement on Friday, according to Page Six.

After undergoing a planned abdominal surgery in January, Middleton, 42, has been on a hiatus from public life until her video statement. “I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery,” she said in the video message.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful,” Middleton said in her video statement. “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous.”

Middleton stated that, after the surgery, doctors discovered that cancer was present and suggested that she begin preventative chemotherapy. “I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” the princess confirmed.

The mom of three said the diagnosis “came as a huge shock” to her and Prince William, who she described as “a great source of comfort and reassurance.” She added that the family have been trying to “process and manage this privately” with their three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

Middleton said she has been busily trying to assure their kids that she’s “going to be OK.” Adding: “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that
will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”
