Porchfest prepares for October with fundraiser concert

JOPLIN, Mo. — A little bit of rain didn’t stop bands from jamming this afternoon.

The Porchfest fundraiser concert gave attendees a sneak peek of October’s Porchfest, while raising some funds for the event.

The concert moved inside the Ozark Christian College Chapel from its original location at the Landreth Park Amphitheater because of the rain.

A soloist, Maddie J Mae, and two bands, Sunset Circle and The Funkulty – played for a crowd of dozens.

This was a free event – but cookies and coffee were on sale, and donations were appreciated.

There were Porchfest shirts, posters, stickers, and more — all to raise funds for the event.

“You know it’s just a great time, we have a huge variety of music, whatever you want you can find at Porchfest. We have kids activities, every genre of food, music, and art you can want and it’s all local,” said William Clift, Porchfest organizer.

Porchfest is set for Saturday, October 5.

Around 40 bands are expected to perform.
