Police Can’t Find Detroit Lions Player Cameron Sutton Since Issuing Domestic Violence Warrant 2 Weeks Ago

Police responded to a Lutz, Fla., residence on March 7 regarding claims of an assault on a woman

Florida authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton, who they have not been able to locate since issuing an arrest warrant for him two weeks ago.

Sutton, 29, is wanted on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday on X (formerly Twitter). The office previously said he was wanted on an aggravated battery - domestic violence charge.

Early in the morning on March 7, police responded to a residence in Lutz, Fla., where Sutton allegedly assaulted a woman and fled the location, a sheriff’s office spokesperson told ESPN.

The woman had several injuries on her body when responding officers arrived at the scene, the sheriff's office told the outlet.

Authorities promptly issued an arrest warrant against Sutton, police told Local 4 and ESPN, but he has allegedly been evading them.

“He’s been ducking us,” a sheriff's office spokesperson told MLive. “Our deputies have exhausted all leads. He’s got vehicles and a home nearby and he hasn’t been there. He’s turned off his phone.”

The Detroit Lions organization said in a statement that they are following the situation, according to several outlets.

"We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning," they said in the statement on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time."

Sutton joined the Lions last summer following six NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected him in the 2017 draft, according to ESPN.
