Pink fires back at criticism about postponed concert: 'I am doing the absolute best I can'
With her acrobatic feats and ability to juggle motherhood and a music career, Pink tends to make the pop-star life look easy. She’s now ready to dispel that myth.
The singer, who is currently on the “Beautiful Trauma” tour in Australia, has shot back at criticism of her announcement that she would postpone her Sydney show due to illness. This was after photos surfaced of her and her family at the beach before the postponement, with one outlet implying that she was treating her sick break as a vacation rather than a much-needed rest.
Pink — who powered through a bout of the flu to perform the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl — wasted no time in defending herself in a strongly worded Instagram post.

According to the mom of two, the photos of her beach break — taken by “parasite paparazzi” — are misleading. She’d always planned to work in some quality time with her family on the road; what she hadn’t bargained for was getting sick in the midst of it and not being able to recover in time for her show.
“I scheduled this tour meticulously, trying to do what was best for my children, while also putting on the best and most physically demanding and beautiful show of my life,” she wrote. “This break in Byron has been scheduled since 2017, as a way to get outside the hotel and the winter and have some time with my children.
“I’ve already been sick twice (kids as well) on this Australian tour, but the first time we got sick, I was able to push through,” she continued. “This time, what these parasite paparazzi don’t show you, is two doctor visits in Byron on two consecutive days, antibiotics, steroids, Vicks, nose spray, throat spray, more steroids, NyQuil, a screaming baby in the middle of the night, every night, while mama gives him warm baths and tells her daughter everything is fine.
“You can think whatever you want, it’s your right, but I have never taken advantage of anyone in my entire life. I have never f***ed off while disrespecting hardworking people who spend money to come see me play. I have never phoned in a single tour, I have an impeccable record for not canceling. I mother with everything I have while handling all the rest.
“The snark in this [headline] is unbelievable and makes me long for a nicer world. I’m doing the absolute best I can, and you can believe it or not. What they don’t show you in this picture is me drinking water and lying down while my friends try to entertain my 7-year-old, who is asking me why these creepy men are surrounding us and pacing back and forth and taking pictures of her every move.”
She signed off by apologizing to fans and vowing to see how her health holds up before continuing on with the tour. Any postponed dates will also be rescheduled.
Judging by the responses, no apology was needed. Countless commenters urged her to put her family first and not worry about disappointing fans.
“It’s really sad that you have to explain all of this to people!” one supporter wrote. “The world seems to be getting meaner every day. Get the rest you need and take care of yourself and your children!”
“Never apologize, mate, we understand,” added a fan. “Rest up and get them kids better. There is always someone who has to bring people down. It’s a shame.”
“Your fans know this is not who you are or what you would do!” another follower said about speculation that the singer was playing hooky.
