P!nk nails the national anthem with the flu – but that's not even the best part

Three-time Grammy winner P!nk absolutely slayed her performance of the national anthem at Sunday’s Super Bowl — and she did it with the flu.

The singer revealed that she was sick on her Instagram Saturday, posting, “Trying to practice the flu away. I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come.”

Although she seemed to slightly struggle while hitting the highest note in the song, she still sounded significantly better than the average human — and everyone was completely impressed.

Sheryl Crow tweeted: “Pink just killed it!! Best I’ve ever heard!”

Ellen DeGeneres, who tweeted prior to the performance that P!nk was probably going to win the Super Bowl with her performance, followed up by tweeting: “Pink, you are amazing. Always.”

However, her killer vocals, despite the flu, weren’t even the best part. People were also talking about the awesome moment that the cameras caught of P!nk taking something out of her mouth prior to her performance and throwing it on the ground.

The moment even started a big debate on social media — chewing gum or cough drop?

Thankfully, P!nk put the argument to rest when she eventually tweeted: It was a throat lozenge”

Cough drop aside, one thing is for sure: P!nk, even battling the flu, is definitely goals.

Super Bowl LII aired Sunday, Feb. 4, on NBC.
