Tim Allen has been hinting at the possibility of a Home Improvement reboot for years, even saying last fall that he had “floated the idea” with some of his former castmates. Now though, Patricia Richardon (who portrayed his onscreen wife, Jill Taylor) has claimed she was “never ever” asked about the possibility of a reunion, but “would not want to” do it even if she was.

Richardson’s comments came from her recent appearance on Back to the Best podcast, where she explained that it was “so weird” to hear that Allen was “coming out publicly and saying this stuff about everyone was on board to do a Home Improvement reunion,” even though she nor Jonathan Taylor Thomas were “never asked” about it.

“I called Jonathan one day and said, ‘Has he asked you about this?’” Richardson said. “He went, ‘No.’ So why is he saying everyone is on board when he hasn’t talked to you or me?”

Among the reasons Richardson offered as to why she wouldn’t be interested in the reboot were concerns about Zachery Ty Bryan’s legal troubles. In 2020, he was arrested for allegedly strangling his then-girlfriend, and in 2023 he was arrested for felony assault, just a month after it was reported that he owed $50,000 in a crypto scam.

Additionally, Richardson highlighted that the other two Taylor boys, Thomas and Taran Noah Smith, have stepped away from the spotlight, and Earl Hindman, who played Wilson, passed away in 2003.

“I mean, Zach is now a felon,” Richardson said. “Taran [Noah Smith] hasn’t acted since he left the show; he’s not an actor anymore. And Jonathan’s not really interested in acting. He wants to direct and write. And we don’t have Wilson.”

Richardson also alluded to a Home Improvement “script” that was floating around the internet, saying “I wrote a big thing on Twitter and said I’m not involved in any series with Jill and I’ve also never even been asked to do another Home Improvement reunion thing, but I would not want to.”

As for Allen’s hopes to bring Home Improvement back, he did at least clarify that he “[couldn’t] say everybody” was involved in the reunion when he spoke about the possibility last fall. Nonetheless, considering Pamala Anderson’s claims that Allen flashed her on set — and the video showing that he flashed Richardson in his underwear — it’s not too hard to imagine more reasons why Richardson wouldn’t be interested in returning.
