Pat Sajak

Pat Sajak's longstanding career as Wheel of Fortune host still has its firsts, even with his final episode approaching.

During a recent broadcast of the fan-favorite game show, a contestant named Mary told the host that she made a "promise" to her kids, and it's something he's likely going to remember for the rest of his life.

"They've been wanting another dog, and so when we found out about this experience," she said of the show, "I promised them that if I got on and I did well, that we would get one."

Mary went on, explaining that there was one condition for her to keep the promise: "His name would be Sajak."

"What do you think?" she asked the 77-year-old, who deadpanned the camera before smirking and replying, "Wow, I don't know."

Mary doubled down, telling the host, "That's what we agreed on."

The suggestion clearly struck a nerve with the star, who then mocked it. "Sit, Sajak!" he exclaimed. "Beg, Sajak!"

"Kind of like being at home for me," he quipped.

The game show personality's jokes didn't stop there, as when Mary landed on a big chunk of prize money–the million dollar wedge–Sajak told her, "You know if you play this smart, you could buy a whole kennel."

Later on, when she swept the round and won a trip to Aruba, he said: "You know, by winning that round, your kids are one step closer to being able to say, 'Hey, Sajak, do it on the paper.'"

Her hot streak and Sajak's puppy puns continued until the end of the game.

"Well, there you go, are we wed to this dog thing yet, ya think?" he asked ahead of beginning the bonus round.

"I'm never going to live this down," Mary chuckled.

"No, no you aren't," Sajak replied. "I expect you to get one and I want approval on the breed."

When Mary won the game, the WoF host really acted up. He announced her winnings while scratching his shoulder and back, "Excuse me, fleas."

But by far, the best treat was the conclusion of the clip, which included a photo of Mary's new fur baby, Sajak.
