‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ cast: Starz announces key roles for ‘Outlander’ spin-off series

Outlander” fans, even though your favorite fantasy show may be leaving the airwaves after Season 8, there is good news as the franchise will live on in the form of an upcoming spin-off series titled “Outlander: Blood of My Blood.” This highly anticipated prequel show will detail the parallel love stories of the parents of Claire Beauchamp (Caitríona Balfe) and the parents of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). While there is still no air date yet, production on the 10-episode season is currently underway in Scotland. Starz has already announced several key roles, so read on for the “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” cast announcement.

Claire’s parents will be played by Hermione Corfield (as Julia Moriston) and Jeremy Irvine (as Henry Beauchamp), and their story will take place during World War I in England. Other cast members in this narrative will include:

Jamie’s parents will be played by Harriet Slater (as Ellen MacKenzie) and Jamie Roy (as Brian Fraser), and their story will take place in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands. Other cast members in this narrative will include:

  • Tony Curran as Lord Lovat, Jamie’s grandfather

  • Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser

  • Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie

  • Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie

  • Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan

  • Brian McCardie as Isaac Grant, the leader of Clan Grant

  • Jhon Lumsden as his son, Malcolm, and a potential suitor for Ellen MacKenzie

  • Sara Vickers as Davina Porter, a housekeeper in the Lovat household and mother to Brian Fraser

  • Peter Mullan as Red Jacob MacKenzie, Laird of Clan MacKenzie and father to Ellen, Dougal, Colum, Janet and Jocasta

  • Sally Messham as Mrs. Fitz, Ellen’s maid at Castle Leoch and Murtagh’s aunt

  • Terence Rae as Arch Bug, who’s working as a bodyguard to Clan Grant

  • Sadhbh Malin as Jocasta Cameron, the feisty youngest child of the MacKenzie clan

  • Ailsa Davidson as her sister Janet MacKenzie, the fifth (and final) MacKenzie sibling

Matthew B. Roberts will serve as the showrunner and executive producer on both “Outlander” and “Outlander: Blood of My Blood.” Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis will also executive produce, while Diana Gabaldon, whose best-selling books inspired the TV shows, will serve as a consulting producer.

The original “Outlander” series will return for the eight-episode Season 7, Part 2 in November 2024, which will once again be based on the book “An Echo in the Bone.” Sometime after that, the 10-episode Season 8 will be its last.

To date, “Outlander” has had a mixed run at awards shows. The Emmys have honored it with only four nominations: music composition (2015), production design (2016) and costumes (2016 and ’18). Meanwhile, the Golden Globes bestowed it with six bids: four for Balfe (2016, ’17, ’18 and ’19), one for Tobias Menzies (2016) and one for drama series (2016).
