Not two days ago, maybe even yesterday, and few of my colleagues and I were lamenting over our yearly holiday schedule, particularly how October is completely devoid of prescribed off days. We all had to double check to make sure, hoping that one of us had an updated version from the higher-ups that the rest just missed. Alas, non plus until Thanksgiving. It was a distressing discovery, to say the least. But here to offer us a reprieve from our doldrums—and maybe yours, too—is Outerknown.

Today, the brand is celebrating Blanket Shirt Day, an annual sale of its best-selling style of the same name. For 24 hours only, Outerknown is taking 30 percent off each purchase of the much-loved flannel with the code BLANKETS30. Though it may not be an actual bank holiday—meaning that there's no catching up on the second season of Ted Lasso—at least I’m able to get a pretty swell discount on a pretty swell button-up. Indeed, it was exactly two years ago, the Before Times, when we endorsed the Blanket Shirt.

Back then, to paraphrase, we envisioned a world where wearing a blanket all day, everyday was socially acceptable. Clearly, our wishful thinking came to fruition—just not in the way we would have liked. Comfort became the only requirement for getting dressed, and, by and large, that is still the case. It’s perhaps why Outerknown’s Blanket Shirt continues its upward trajectory, selling relatively great before, during, and now after the pandemic. The way the style envelopes the body like a snug hug, but fits the way a good shirt should, has made it a cult fave. What’s more, it comes in 35 colorways and patterns, from blue stripes to green plaid, which means there’s one for everybody. And with 30 percent off, it’s a definite must-cop.

So, here’s to Blanket Shirt Day, the best work holiday in October after Halloween.
