5 Great Season-Ending Lines

Wednesday night’s two-hour season finale of Empire brought the Cookie and the crazy, capped off by the perfect last line: “Game time, bitches.” Lucious Lyon’s jailhouse vow joins a long line of excellent season-ending bits of dialogue. Here’s a look back at some of our favorite sign-offs. (WARNING: Spoilers ahead!)

Orange Is the New Black (Season 2, “We Have Manners, We’re Polite”)
Killer Line: “Always so rude, that one.”
We cheered Miss Rosa’s last ride to freedom, not just because it was so well-earned, but also because she took out the big, bad Vee on the way.

The Walking Dead (Season 4, “A”)
Killer Line: “They’re screwing with the wrong people.”
Sheriff Rick never sounded more in charge — and more like a badass — than when he vowed to take the fight to the folks in charge at Terminus.

Lost (Season 3, “Through the Looking Glass”)
Killer Line: “We have to go baaaack!”
The third-season finale of Lost had already blown our minds by showing us some of the surviving castaways back in the embrace civilization. And then it blew our minds again when Jack insisted they had to return to the mystery island of smoke monsters and weird numeric patterns. That turned out to be a terrible decision for him, but great for the rest of us.

Battlestar Galactica (Season 3, “Crossroads, Part 2”)
Killer Line: “I’ve been to Earth. I know where it is. And I’m going to take us there.”
With that vow, a mysteriously resurrected Kara Thrace set up the show’s endgame… which, of course, turned out to be slightly more complicated than she promised. Still, it’s impossible not to be thrilled by her certainty, even knowing the messiness that’s to come.

House of Cards (Season 2, Chapter 26)
Killer line: [Knock knock]
Who needs words? The newly-installed President Underwood rapping his ring on the Oval Office desk speaks volumes.

Which season finales do you quote endlessly?
