New Orleans actor John Goodman to star in new ‘Smurfs’ movie
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Star of ABC’s “The Connors” and New Orleans resident John Goodman is set to star in the new “Smurfs” movie coming to theaters next year.
The announcement was made on social media about the new animated feature in which Goodman is said to be the voice of one of the characters.
The new “Smurfs” movie is based on the popular 1980s cartoon.
Goodman lives in New Orleans with his wife, Anna Beth, a local clothing designer. She’s from Louisiana.

Goodman also starred on the TV show “Treme,” which was filmed in New Orleans.
The new flick will also feature pop star Rihanna as the voice of “Smurfette,” alongside other stars Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Kurt Russell, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris and many more.
The film is directed by Chris Miller, who also directed “Puss in Boots.”
The new movie will hit theaters on Feb. 14, 2025. There have been three other Smurfs movies released in 2011, 2013 and 2017.
