PEOPLE got an exclusive first look at the actor's thrilling adventures documented in his three-part Peacock series, ‘Orlando Bloom: To The Edge’

Orlando Bloom is living life on the edge in a new series.

PEOPLE got an exclusive first look at the award-winning actor’s latest venture, Orlando Bloom: To The Edge — a three-part adventure series premiering on April 18 on Peacock.

Each episode follows Bloom, 47, as he tackles three separate extreme activities and forces himself to push both his physical and mental limits. From free diving to wingsuiting (skydiving in a web-sleeved jumpsuit), the thrill-seeker leans on the advice of experts to guide him on his journey, as well as his own Buddhist practice to keep him grounded.

In the above clip, the Pirates of the Caribbean star comes close to his own personal edge as he free dives 49 feet underwater without any air tank. He holds his breath the entire time and uses the rope to guide him back to the surface.

As he makes his way up in the nail-biting scene, multiple divers are seen surrounding him to monitor his progress and safety. His diving mentor Camila Jaber can be heard saying, “Good Orlando, breathe,” as soon as he resurfaces.

Once he signals that he’s okay with a big smile, the divers around him start to clap and cheer.

“Being a novice to all this — the free diving, the competitions — it’s wonderful to feel so welcomed and encouraged by this community of free divers,” Bloom narrates in the background.

The camera then pans out to reveal the breathtaking location — a 663-foot sinkhole known as Dean’s Blue Hole in the Bahamas — where the actor has been learning to build a tolerance to carbon dioxide as part of his training.

Along with free diving, the dad of two — he shares daughter Daisy, 3, with fiancee Katy Perry and son Flynn, 13, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr — challenges himself to learn wingsuiting and rock climbing at terrifying heights.

Bloom, who is also an executive producer of the series, says ominously in the trailer, “I felt about as close to death as I could possibly get. Things could go wrong quickly.”

He explains his reasoning for putting himself in these dangerous situations.

“I’ve always loved adventure,” he says. “Being on that edge makes me feel most alive. This time, I’ll be guided by some extraordinary people who really know how to push their edge.”

He continues, “I’m training to attempt three extremely dangerous sports. This is a deep spiritual journey to find a sense of peace. It’s gonna be challenging, but it’s not impossible.”

Bloom is then pictured engaging in a series of intense activities, from holding his breath until he physically can’t any longer to screaming as he clings to the top of a towering red rock. He’s also shown relying on his spirituality to guide him through each difficult task.

“When you put yourself out of your comfort zone, you’ll surprise yourself,” he adds in the clip.

All three episodes of Orlando Bloom: To The Edge will be streaming on Peacock on Thursday, April 18.
