Diet culture was the main topic on Oprah Winfrey's latest special "Making the Shift: A New Way to Think About Weight," which was livestreamed on YouTube. Oprah sat down with both Rebel Wilson and Busy Philipps to discuss about the topic and shared her own experiences. Oprah also apologized for being a "a steadfast participant" in diet culture. She said her very first national TV appearance on "The Tonight Show" with guest host Joan Rivers in 1985 – where they discussed her weight – set her on that path. "I was so embarrassed … That was the start of a vicious cycle of yo-yoing that ended up with that liquid diet where I literally starved myself for months," she recalled.
