One Fan Asked Molly Ringwald If He Could Have Her Underpants for 10 Minutes

In the ’80s, Molly Ringwald was America’s sweetheart, appearing in such classics as The Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, and Pretty in Pink. Now she co-stars in Riverdale, but, as Live With Kelly hosts Kelly Ripa and John Leguizamo made clear, some fans will never forget her early work.

Ripa asked the actress, “How many people, men and women, do you think had crushes on you, like throughout their lives?” Ripa said that when she was growing up, in her head, Ringwald was her best friend, and Leguizamo added, “She was my girlfriend in my head.”

Ringwald said that, over the years, many people have come up to her to say they love her, but one run-in with a fan left her a little flummoxed. She was with her daughter in a store, and the fan came up and asked if he could have her underpants for 10 minutes. The request was a classic line from 16 Candles, delivered by Anthony Michael Hall, but the presence of her daughter during the fan’s recitation of the line made it too weird for Ringwald.
