On Monday, authorities announced that the 19-month-old daughter of U.S. Olympic skier Bode Miller and his wife, professional beach volleyball player Morgan Miller, drowned in a Southern California pool.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and performed CPR before transporting Emeline Miller to an Orange County hospital. According to TMZ, they were unable to resuscitate her. Emmy passed away on Sunday.

Bode Miller posted pictures and a video of his daughter on his Instagram while sharing the tragic news with his fans.

Carrie Braun, the Orange County sheriff’s spokeswoman, says that the death was under investigation.

It is obvious from the pictures Miller shares on social media that Emmy was very much loved and this death is nothing short of tragic for the young family. Miller often posted snaps of his children and commented on missing them while away.

CEO and President of U.S. Ski and Snowboard Tiger Shaw shared in a statement this evening, “Everyone at U.S. Ski & Snowboard is devastated to hear the tragic news about Bode and Morgan’s baby daughter Emmy. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, their family and friends at this time.”

Bode Miller is the most decorated male U.S. skier. He has won one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals over three Olympic games, and has won a World Cup in all five disciplines.
