Last year, Rodrigo paid tribute to Kahan by performing a cover of "Stick Season" while she appeared on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

At the time, the singer and her all-women band played a slower version of the track from Kahan's popular 2022 album of the same name.

Kahan himself was thrilled with the cover, as he later shared a TikTok featuring a split screen of Rodrigo’s performance and a video of himself listening to it. Over the footage of himself rocking out, he wrote, “Olivia covering stick season? Her song now.”

“I'd give her my entire discography,” the folk star also joked in the caption. “Olivia thank you so much.”

Not long after, Kahan returned the favor when he performed one of Rodrigo's tracks, "Lacy," on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

He was joined then by his U.K. and European tour openers Tiny Habits to perform the song.

After the performance, Dan Nigro, who has worked with Rodrigo as a producer and longtime collaborator, shared how impressed he was by Kahan’s cover by commenting on his Instagram post that featured a clip from the performance.

“Nailed it!! I was honestly thinking you were gonna do this song or The Grudge. 🙌🙌🙌,” the Grammy-winning producer replied, referring to another track from Rodrigo's sophomore album, which dropped in September.

Rodrigo is currently trekking across the nation as part of her Guts World Tour.
