Oliver Hudson Has a Curious Take About His Infidelity Ahead of His 2006 Wedding to Erinn Bartlett

Fans may have believed that Oliver Hudson’s marriage to actress Erinn Bartlett was picture-perfect after almost 18 years and three children, Wilder, 16, and Bodhi, 13, and, Rio, 10, together. However, his shocking revelation on his Sibling Revelry podcasts with guest host Robyn Lively was truly unexpected.

He told Lively that he “spiraled” out of control after he asked Bartlett to marry him in 2004. “When I got engaged, something happened psychologically, and I spiraled, and I was unfaithful, and I was cheating, and I was crazy,” he admitted to Blake Lively’s older sister on the episode. He didn’t keep his secret hidden before he walked down the aisle — Hudson confessed all of his misdeeds to his future wife.

“I never got caught. I told her everything because I couldn’t live with myself and get married and be married and have children with this sort of weight,” he added. The Cleaning Lady star shared that his mother, Goldie Hawn, also “played a big part” in his confession and the couple’s reconciliation. “Where it’s about looking at the entirety and the totality of the relationship, not just the action,” Hudson explained. “Even though it might seem extreme, let’s dig in a little bit into why and looking at the whole person rather than this one affliction.”

Hudson and Bartlett went to therapy to sort out their issues ahead of their marriage, but the 47-year-old actor had a curious take on if he had any regrets about his actions. “Regret is an interesting word,” he said. “I’m not sure I have many regrets because if I didn’t, it was a choice that I made, whether it was a positive one or a negative one.” While he wishes he hadn’t caused Bartlett “any pain,” he believes that going through this trial changed his life for the better.

“I’ve made some horrible, horrible choices in my life just generally. You would think I regret doing that, but I don’t know who I would be if I didn’t make that choice,” he summed up. His hot take might not be for everyone, but it looks like Hudson and Bartlett are on solid ground after a shaky beginning.
