According to Miami’s Local 10 News, he was undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas for several months.

He then took to X and denied rumors that he was in hospice care as he recovered.

“Hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice?” he wrote.

“No, I’m not in any hospice, I don’t know who put that out there. Whoever put that out there, it’s like the Donald [Trump] say: can’t trust the media. In any event, I’m hosting a ton of friends for the Super Bowl here in Las Vegas. All is well. Take care, have a good Super Bowl Weekend.”

One of his last social media posts was recorded on Feb. 11, where he posted a clip of himself on X wearing a 49ers jersey ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl.

“I’m from the Bay and I’m going with Bay!!! Let’s go @49ers,” he wrote.

Simpson won the Heisman Trophy as the top college player at USC in 1968 and played 10 years in the NFL. He went on to become a movie star and worked as a football analyst during his career.

On June 12, 1994, Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman, were found stabbed to death outside her Brentwood home. Simpson was arrested for the killings a few days later following a car chase in his white Ford Bronco.

He was officially acquitted of the murders on Oct. 3, 1995.

Years later, in 2008, Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison for armed robbery and was released on parole after serving nine.

Simpson is survived by four of his children from his two marriages — including the two youngest, Sydney and Justin, that he shared with Brown.
