New Extended 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer: More Evil Ultron, More Samsung

A new extended Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer that made its way online today offers a few seconds of fresh footage for famished fans. For the most part, the new trailer combines the scenes we already saw in the teaser trailer from Oct. 22 and the extended trailer from Oct. 29. (Has Marvel ever considered numbering these things? Just a thought.) But there are a couple of new glimpses to sate Marvel obsessives — and also a few added shots of Samsung product placement, which makes sense, considering the new-ish trailer is an exclusive promotion that was released on Samsung devices this morning. (Inevitably, the video has now made its way to YouTube.)

Most intriguing for movie fans is the extended footage of Ultron’s confrontation with the Avengers that appears early in the trailer: Now, in addition to the moment spotted in the previous trailer, we get an evil James Spader chuckle, a line about how “there’s only one path to peace: your extinction,” and the visual of Ultron’s minions flying through the windows of Avengers Tower.

Also new are the shots of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill (Coby Smulders) cocking a pistol, and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) readying his hammer while that mystery character played by Claudia Kim looks on. Blink and you’ll miss the other additions, including a shot of Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) in a clock tower, a shadowy staircase, a metal gate blowing open, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) doing a low flyover, and Captain America (Chris Evans) jumping over a car. The rest — “I’ve Got No Strings,” Hulkbuster armor, etc. — should all look familiar by now.

As for those who tuned in more because of their love of Samsung products, there’s a prominently placed tablet and a conspicuous scene of a Samsung store being attacked. Perhaps it will be the scene of a Tony Stark shopping spree? Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
