'Age of Ultron' Mystery Woman: ID'ing the Avengers New Lady Friend

Those of you with eagle eyes no doubt noticed a new lady in the Avengers midst.

The dark-haired mystery woman appeared briefly at the 37-second mark in the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron that leaked online last week (before Disney responded hurriedly with the official version). She was seen standing next to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as Ultron (voiced by James Spader) called the superhero group “puppets tangled in strings.”

We all got another look at her last night in an Age of Ultron scene that premiered during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as she laughed at the superhero supergroup as each attempted, unsuccessfully, to move Thor’s immoveable hammer.

Because of her proximity to the thunder god in the teaser, some Internet sleuths suspected it was Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman in the Thor series). Others thought it was the new Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers — a character Marvel just confirmed will be getting her own solo feature in 2018. Another option: it was former S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), a noted friend of the Avengers.

Each a good guess, but every one wrong.

Disney has confirmed to Yahoo Movies that woman in question is South Korean actress Claudia Kim, also known as Kim Soo-hyun (hat tip to Buzzfeed). But our Mouse House mole’s lips were sealed when asked which character she’s be playing or her role in the plot.

Buzzfeed, which first tracked down Kim’s ID, floated the theory that she could be playing Suzi Endo, a Stark Industries scientist specializing in cybernetics.

Considering how information has been leaking from Age of Ultron (“I blame it on HYDRA,” says Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige), it’s only a matter of time before we learn who Kim is playing. Or, for that matter, Andy Serkis. But that’s another story.
